Practical installation guide
How do you connect management software to barriers?
A hardware device supplied by OVVO connects the cloud management software to the barrier: it reads three dry-contact signals and, when the rules allow it, sends an opening pulse through a single relay output.
Functional connection diagram
The diagram shows signal flows, not terminals. The vehicle presence sensors detect vehicles on the two sides of the gate. The inputs use dry contacts: no external voltage must be applied.
OVVO cloud management software
Campsite router
Stable internet connection
Hardware supplied by OVVO
Recommended: Ethernet cable to the router.
Supported alternative: Wi-Fi connection to the router.
Three inputs to the hardware (dry contacts)
Entry-side vehicle presence sensor
Dry contact: vehicle in front of the barrier, on the outside.
Barrier-open limit switch
Dry contact: only signals that the barrier is open.
Exit-side vehicle presence sensor
Dry contact: vehicle present on the inside.
Three OVVO hardware inputs
Receive the three signals above; the limit switch is an input, not the opening command
The two vehicle presence sensors detect vehicles on either side of the barrier.
One hardware output (separate from the limit switch)
OVVO hardware: relay output
Opening pulse only when at least one vehicle presence sensor is active
Barrier command input
Receives the opening pulse, not the limit-switch signal
How entries and exits are recorded
The sequence of the three signals is what matters. The limit switch alone only indicates that the barrier is open: it does not prove that a vehicle has passed through.
Entry
- 1Entry-side vehicle presence
- 2Barrier-open limit switch
- 3Exit-side vehicle presence
Recorded as a vehicle entry.
Exit
- 1Exit-side vehicle presence
- 2Barrier-open limit switch
- 3Entry-side vehicle presence
Recorded as a vehicle exit.
When the opening pulse is sent
Every request, regardless of its source, is sent to the relay only if at least one vehicle presence sensor is active. This also applies to manual requests by the operator.
Booked guest calling by phone
The phone number is recognised as associated with a booking: the opening request starts directly, without a mandatory SMS.
Guest's personal link
The same rule applies: the associated booking authorises the opening request.
Operator, from the booking
A manual request from within the booking, subject to the same rule.
Phone number with no booking
The caller receives an SMS on that number with a link to enter and register. The same presence check then applies.
Passage log and limits
All entries and exits are recorded. The maximum number of entries and exits during the booked period is configurable.Exit and paid parking
A free-exit period of X minutes can be configured. Exit is free within that period; afterwards, the amount is calculated using the configured tariff and exit takes place after payment, still subject to the presence-sensor rule.Frequently asked questions
